In October 2024, the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre held its second annual symposium for GPs, which attracted over 100 delegates to the Levantine Hill Estate in the Yarra Valley. Centred on the theme "Gastrointestinal Disorders: Best Practices and Multidisciplinary Care," the symposium featured leading experts presenting on key topics such as pancreatic cyst management, fatty liver disease, and the role of nutrition in gastrointestinal health.

The importance of holistic care was a key focus, with sessions exploring the contribution of imaging, genetics, and dietetics to comprehensive patient management. The symposium also provided an important platform to strengthen relationships with GPs and refine referral pathways, which will help streamline the care of individuals with pancreatic cancer.

“This symposium reflects our commitment to improving patient outcomes through collaboration with GPs. By providing them with up-to-date knowledge, we can help support GPs identify and diagnose pancreatic conditions earlier” said Centre Director A/Prof Andrew Metz.

The feedback on the symposium was overwhelmingly positive. A number of attendees were returning GPs who attended the inaugural symposium in 2023. The sweeping views and networking opportunities over breaks were an added bonus to the experience for the attendees.

“A well-organised event with useful takeaways,” said a GP.

“Sensational speakers, important topics, at a great venue. A Saturday well spent!” observed another delegate.

We extend our gratitude to our supporters: The Victorian Government, through the Victorian Cancer Agency, the Viridian Foundation, and our sponsors Viatris Australia and Servier Laboratories Australia. We also thank the Levantine Hill Estate for graciously hosting this event.
