On 25 October 2025, the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre hosted the third annual GI for GPs Symposium at Levantine Hill Estate. More than one hundred general practitioners from across Victoria and interstate attended the event, which focused on early detection, referral pathways and best practice care for a range of gastro-intestinal (GI) conditions, including pancreatic cancer. The symposium provided a valuable platform to share knowledge, build referral confidence and strengthen collaboration between GPs and specialists.

Specialist speakers delivered practical sessions designed to support clinical decisions in general practice. Topics included pancreatic screening, bowel and gastric cancer, liver disease, inflammatory and functional GI disorders, and paediatric concerns. GPs had the chance to ask questions, exchange ideas and engage directly with specialist teams throughout the day.

This annual event forms part of the Centre’s broader commitment to improving outcomes through GP education and pancreatic cancer research. With attendees from Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, the symposium extended its reach beyond Victoria and contributed to a national conversation about equitable care.

Feedback from delegates was strongly positive and one attendee said:

The material and delivery of the seminars was far beyond my expectations - I’ve only seen this level at international conferences. I’ll definitely be back next year.

The Jreissati Pancreatic Centre is exploring future opportunities to expand access through partnerships and community-based events. If you are based in a regional area and would like to express interest, we invite you to get in touch.

Earlier this year, the Centre launched its new interactive GP decision support tool to assist GPs in diagnosing pancreatic cancer, and distributed more than 1,000 copies of its GP education packs to clinics across Australia and internationally.

We extend our gratitude to our supporters: the Victorian Government, through the Victorian Cancer Agency, the Viridian Foundation, and our sponsor Viatris Australia. We also thank the Levantine Hill Estate for graciously hosting this event.
